The Cleveland Orchestra, Franz Welser-Möst captivate audience at BW

The performance of two rarely heard works for small ensembles by Strauss and Mozart showcased different sections of the world-renowned Orchestra and delighted an appreciative, capacity, Gamble Auditorium crowd of аÄéTÁùºÏ²Ê students, faculty, alumni, neighbors and friends.

The magnificent winter evening of music, featuring Mozart's Divertimento No. 15 ("Second Lodron") and Strauss' Fröhliche Werkstatt ("Symphony for Winds"), also served as a mid-year crescendo in the 2018-19 Cleveland Orchestra Residency at BW.

"Any opportunity to celebrate our ongoing partnership with TCO is an honor; last evening was particularly special for the аÄéTÁùºÏ²Ê community," said аÄéTÁùºÏ²Ê Conservatory Dean Susan Van Vorst. "Just as this alliance has shaped our past, it will continue to serve our students well into our future."

Ongoing Residency

The Cleveland Orchestra concert is part of a residency at BW"I look forward to an ever-deepening relationship with this venerable ensemble," Van Vorst added. "Together we are providing remarkable opportunities for the world's next generation of artist citizens."

The exceptional collaboration with The Cleveland Orchestra continues to provide students from all disciplines the opportunity to work and engage with the world's top echelon of artistic professionals.

A series of Orchestra-led master classes for brass, keyboard, woodwind and percussion as well as entrepreneurship classes in collaboration with аÄéTÁùºÏ²Ê's arts management and entrepreneurship program continue throughout the spring.

Included is a "Convocation Conversation" with members of The Cleveland Orchestra's artistic and operations staff. "Making the Magic Happen: Behind the scenes with The Cleveland Orchestra" takes place on February 26 at 3:10 p.m.
