Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Education Records

The is a federal law that governs the collection, protection, and disclosure of students' education records. FERPA allows the following student rights with respect to education records.

Note: Definitions of the italicized key terms can be found in the key terms tab below.

  1. Access to Education Records: After matriculating to 新澳門六合彩 (新澳門六合彩), an eligible student has the right to inspect and review their education records. 新澳門六合彩 will provide access to the education records within 45 days of a request.
  2. Request for Amendment of Education Records: A student has the right to request amendment of education records if the student believes they are inaccurate, misleading, or in violation of privacy rights under the Act.
  3. Disclosure of Education Records: A student has the right to consent for disclosure of personally identifiable information in education records, except to the extent that the Act or any superseding law authorizes disclosure without student consent. Information from a student's education record may be shared within 新澳門六合彩 only among appropriate school officials having legitimate educational interests in the records. Some information about a student is considered directory information. Directory information may be publicly shared by the institution unless the student has taken formal action to restrict its release.
  4. Compliance: A student has the right to contact the Student Privacy Policy Office (SPPO) with a complaint concerning 新澳門六合彩's compliance with the requirements of the Act. Please contact the Registration & Records Office (registrar@bw.edu) with additional questions.
